Tournament Rules

The Easter Classic Tournament is committed to excellence on all standards - for players, coaches, fans and community. Part of this is understanding what proper elite high performance play is - the right environment, following the rules and letting your play do the talking. 
 

  • It is up to players, coaches and fans to follow the rules.

  • It us up to coaches to advocate for the players and the rules. 

  • It is up to the refs to advocate for the players and the rules.

  • It is up to the tournament to hold space for everyone coming together and competing in a safe and high performance environment. 

Seeding & Tie breakers:
Seeding and Tie-breakers will be based on a)  wins and b) points for and points against

 

U10 Tournament Rules;
Ball Size ; 5
Game Timing ; 4 x 4:00 shifts no quarter break half only every 2 shifts is one quarter 

Final 2 minutes of play ; clock stops when score is with in 10 points. All other FIBA rules pertaining to the last 2 minutes of play are in affect.

Shot clock ; 30 seconds, shot clock ; Any back court foul, full 30 second reset; front court foul on the ground below 14 resets to 14 above 14 remains as is; Shooting foul full 30 second reset; offensive rebound full 30 second reset.

Time over half ; 10 seconds 

Number of players ; 5 on 5 

Shifts ; No one player can play 1 more shift then other players 

Basket height ; 8’6”

Free Throw Line ; 12’

3 Point Baskets ; if you can shoot them , shoot them- they count 

Defence ; No full court press, no zones , no double teaming ; following a score defence must get back behind half ; once the ball enters the key double teaming permitted 

Penalty ; upon the 5th team foul 2 free throws permitted resets after every 2 shifts

U12 Tournament Rules; 
Ball Size ; 5 

Game Timing ; 4 x 8:00 minute quarters ; 1 minute break every quarter;  
2 to 4 minute half time break depending if we’re on time 

During all playing time designated as a quarter, teams may sub freely at FIBA subbing opportunities

Last 2 minutes ; clock stops when score is with in 10 points. All other FIBA rules pertaining to the last 2 minutes of play are in affect.

Shot Clock – 30 seconds,

  • Any back court foul, full 30 second reset;

  • front court foul on the ground below 14 resets to 14 above 14 remains as is;

  • Shooting foul full 30 second reset; offensive rebound full 30 second reset.


Time over half ; 10 seconds 

Number of Players – 5 on 5, teams must have 5 players prior to starting the game

Basket height ; 10’

Free throw line; 15’

3 point baskets; if you can shoot them , shoot them they count 

Defence; full court press is permitted  , no zone defence , no double teaming only inside the 3 point line full court press must come off up 25 points 

Clock ; running clock only stops on free throws & time-outs ; only in the medal games the clock will stop regularly

U12 Penalty rules:
Upon the 5th foul (bonus) 2 free throws permitted …
This resets at the end of the quarter

U14 & U16 Tournament Rules;
Ball Size ; girls size 6 ; boys size 7 

Game Timing;

  • U14 ; 4 x 8:00 minute quarters ,

  • U16 ; 4 x 10:00 minutes quarters ; 2-4 minute half time break depending if we’re on time

  • U16 8 seconds
